Student and Family Guide to Success
Our student and family guide to success provides guidance for how school teams may respond to student behavioral issues. Our goal is to support our students in learning how to navigate challenging situations and make smart and productive decisions about how they respond so that they are prepared to be successful in college, careers, and life.
At Tulsa Public Schools we believe in the power of restorative practices and interventions. Students, teachers and leaders will foster safe, supportive and joyful learning environments that emphasize acceptance and inclusion for all students. There are profound benefits for a school community when we seek alternative options to suspensions. Tulsa Public Schools school leaders are working on ways to devise an approach that ensures accountability, reflection and reconciliation while attempting to keep students in our educational environment.
Student Success Plan
The Student Success Plan is a way to help students make to plan to meet their goals to succeed at school and in life. Teachers, counselors, and family work with the student to set academic and behavioral goals and ways in which to achieve them.

how to Appeal a suspension
If the out of school suspension is ten days or less:
- Within five school days of the suspension, the student's parent or guardian may request, in writing, a hearing by the Site Suspension Review Committee. The decision of this committee is final.
If the out of school suspension is 11 days or more:
- Within five school days from the date of suspension, the student's parent or guardian may request, in writing, a hearing with the site suspension review committee.
- If the parent or guardian is not satisfied with the decision, a request for further hearing by the superintendent or designee may be made within five days of the site committee's decision. We will schedule these hearings as soon as possible.
- If the parent or guardian is not satisfied with the decision of the superintendent or designee, they can request an appeal to a hearing officer.
Decisions for alternative placements are not appealable. Please contact Renee Weygandt at 918-746-6457 or by email for further information on suspension appeals.
